What we collect

On lubancanada.com

The website has no accounts and no analytics or advertising. If you use the contact form, we get the name, email address and message you type into it.

In the Market Lab

To set up your account we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with our sign-in provider.

While you take part, the simulator records your team and role, the orders you place, your trades, your team's cash and holdings, and its portfolio value over time. It also keeps a log of account changes, for example when someone accepts an invitation or a host moves a player to another team.

Technical logs

Our hosting providers automatically keep short-lived logs that include IP addresses and browser details. They're used to keep the services running and to spot abuse.

How we use it

• Running the competition: creating your account, placing you on a team, processing simulated trades and ranking teams.
• Emailing you about the event, such as information session dates and results.
• Answering messages you send us.
• Paying prizes. If your team wins, we'll email you to arrange payment and ask only for what we need to send it. We use those details for the prize and nothing else.
• Keeping the simulator fair and secure, which includes looking into suspected cheating.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Your teammates can see your name, whether you're online, and the trades you make. Every participant can see team names, portfolio values and rankings on the leaderboard. Luban organizers and competition hosts can see accounts and trading history because they run the event.

These companies handle information for us:

• Clerk runs sign-in and account management.
• Supabase hosts the database that stores simulator data.
• Vercel hosts both websites.
• EmailJS delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
• Google provides Google sign-in, and the fonts on lubancanada.com. Loading those fonts sends your IP address to Google.

Stock prices come from Yahoo Finance. We don't send Yahoo any information about you.

Most of these providers are based in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there, where US law applies to it.

Cookies

The Market Lab uses cookies to keep you signed in. The site doesn't work without them, and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies. lubancanada.com doesn't set any cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep Market Lab data for one year after the 2026 simulation ends, in case questions come up about results or prizes. After that we delete it or remove anything that identifies you. Contact form messages stay in our inbox until we no longer need them to help you.

Seeing, fixing or deleting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email jsun.luban@gmail.com from the address on your account and we'll reply within 30 days.

Deleting your Market Lab account removes your name and email address. If you've already traded, those trades stay with your team so its results remain accurate, but they're no longer linked to you. Once your account is deleted you can't keep playing.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll email participants before it applies.
